The Stonethrowers
The Stonethrowers
The Stonethrowers have been captivating audiences in and around Philadelphia for over ten years with their own brand of Americana music. Acoustic songwriting at its heart, The Stonethrowers feature country and bluegrass instruments unrestrained by a desire to hew too closely to tradition. Their performances showcase multiple lead singers with great vocal expression and seamlessly blended three-part vocal harmonies to fill out an energetic delivery. With the release of their newest album, Kissed By The Blue (2018), The Stonethrowers continue to push the bounds of their own expression, adding a second songwriter to the band for the first time. In addition to new members Willy Lebowitz (mandolin, vocals) and Bobby Baxmeyer (banjo, vocals), the band is anchored by: Marc Silver (guitar, vocals), Mike Hlatky (bass, vocals), and Isaac Stanford (pedal steel, dobro). The Stonethrowers are excited to present this new material to audiences far and wide.

David Cope
With a catalog of over four hundred songs, Dave Cope is one of the most prolific and eclectic musical minds to have ever graced the stages and studios of Philadelphia.

He’s composed widely for himself, for other artists, as well as for film, tv, and the theater–and he’s created memorable works of rock, pop, folk, classical, and new wave.

But no matter for whom and for which genre he’s composing, he’s focused on one thing: making music for people who need music.

Cope earned a degree in music from Wesleyan University where he studied everything from Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier to the classical music of South India. He has studied with renowned teachers such as master vocalist and flutist Tanjore Viswanathan, as well as respected classical composers Harold Boatrite and Neely Bruce.

In 2012, Cope released his debut album, “Davey Cope & The English Breakfast: A Proper Record.”

His song “Lush Life” was featured in the 2005 film “Pizza.”
He’s composed the music for Quintessence Theatre’s 2014 production of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”

Cope has also collaborated with noted songwriters and producers, including Larry Gold (string arranger for numerous R&B tracks from the 1970s to the present), Henry Hirsch
(producer and engineer for Lenny Kravitz), Chuck Treece, David Ivory, Santigold, Andres Villamil, and Eric Bazilian.

Under the name LeBon LeBon, Cope blends styles from 1980s new wave and pop with modern electronic music into original tracks. LeBon LeBon recently released its second album “Devices,” which can be found on iTunes and Bandcamp under David Cope. The video for LeBon LeBon’s holiday classic, “All I want is Megan Fox for Christmas,” can be viewed on YouTube.

Classical compositions, are filtering their way into Cope’s creative repertoire including a well received string quartet completed and recorded in 2017.

In addition to writing and playing music, Cope teaches music at the Boys Latin Charter School and Germantown Friends School, and gives private lessons in voice, guitar, and composition. He also occasionally fills in for his friend at the local news stand.
