3TEETH
3TEETH
Formed in 2013, 3TEETH is an L.A.-based transgressive artistic collaborative consisting of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums) and Chase Brawner (guitars). Inspired by the early ‘90s industrial scene and acts like Ministry and NIN, the four-piece boasts a unique amalgam of aggressive sounds and compelling visual art that, combined with their cynical humor and provocative propaganda, ultimately asks fans to join their assault on consensus-based reality.

The group released its self-titled debut album in 2014 and was promptly hailed as a welcome return to the old school industrial sound of the ‘90s that eschewed EBM’s techno beats in favor of grinding grooves, atmospheric keyboards, crunchy guitars and heavily distorted vocals.

Meanwhile, the band developed an intense live show that unleashed the cathartic chaos contained in their studio recordings. On 3TEETH’s stage, the band’s brutal sonics get paired with a dense array of images brought together by the mesmerizing performance of frontman Mincolla. The group saw its creative efforts pay off in a major way when metal giants TOOL handpicked 3TEETH to support them on their 2016 world arena tour with Primus.

Preparation for the band’s next album began in earnest shortly after the tour with new material being written and recorded. Two singles from the album, “Degrade” and “Atrophy,” were released, the latter of which was accompanied by a concept video, and both songs demonstrated that 3TEETH had hit a new creative peak. Sean Beavan, producer and mixer who has worked on albums by NIN, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Slayer and more, was brought in to take the band’s recordings to the next level. The final album was then mastered by Howie Weinberg (Pantera, TOOL, Rammstein) resulting in by far the heaviest sounds the band has ever conjured.

The now completed, long-awaited follow-up album, shutdown.exe, will see the light of day May 19 courtesy of OMF Records, a new imprint of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

Street Sects
Street Sects
Supported by Pitchfork, Vice, Rolling Stone, Bandcamp, and The Needle Drop, and recently having completed a North American tour with Dalek, Street Sects has recorded two new tracks, one of which is built on disassembled parts of a Controlled Bleeding song. This new 7" is pressed on 7" vinyl and is exclusive to Toronto-based Artoffact Records.

Things Will Be Better in Hell is a two song 7" single about love and relationships. Side A, Things Will Be Better in Hell, is a view from within the confines of a codependent relationship, one where addiction and love have become inseparable. Where getting clean means getting out, and is therefore unthinkable. The core mainframe of this song was built from digital reworkings of live drum samples recorded by Alton Jenkins of Future Death.

Side B, Bite Down Hard, takes a look at a "successful" relationship. In love, the word "forever" means until the end of life. But what happens if you make it? If you manage to stay loyal to one person, one idea, one position until your final days, how does that feel? Do you look back upon your life with a sense of pride and accomplishment, or do you lament the missed opportunities, and wonder how things might have been? Built entirely from samples that were pulled from Controlled Bleeding's "Return of the Quiet", "Bite Down Hard" was originally intended to be included on Controlled Bleeding's Carving Songs, a collection of remixes of songs from Larva Lumps and Baby Bumps, but as the song came together it became clear that the track was less of a "remix", and more of a Street Sects original composition, therefore warranting a separate release.
