Man Overboard
Man Overboard
Consider pop punk defended. Man Overboard, the four-piece outfit out of New Jersey, have made a statement with their debut full length Real Talk that is much harder, faster, and louder than a catchy, often-quoted band mantra. While the band's previous material has been extremely enjoyable, climbing to the most coveted parts of my iTunes play counts, their latest offering is their first real spoonful of pop punk. Dual vocalists Zac Eiestenstein and Nik Bruzzese are more aggressive on Real Talk, and their vocals are paced by dirtier-sounding guitars, contributing to a more punk-influenced style. As an overwhelming initial wave of support shows, I'm in the same boat of thinking as most Man Overboard fans when I welcome the new style. It's the exact direction I was hoping this band would take, and the direction that they needed to take to back up their mantra. It's safe to say that Man Overboard have not only defended the genre, but have exceeded all expectations in the process.
Handguns
Handguns
Whats up we are a pop punk band from Harrisburg Pa. We believe in hard work and having fun. We don't have famous friends we are not critically acclaimed and no one in this band was ever in some famous band who's name we could drop or coat tail we could ride. But we will get up earlier than you and work longer and harder. That has to count for something. If it doesn't then at least we had a hell of a good time trying and made some amazing friends along the way.
Seahaven
Seahaven began in 2009 as four friends in Southern California who shared a passion for the post-punk and indie sensibilities of favorites Brand New, Jawbreaker, and Crime in Stereo. After ex-Final Fight drummer James Phillips decided to take a break from the hardcore tendencies of his previous band, he joined forces with Kyle Chadwick, Eric Findlay, and Michael Craver to create a sound that has been described as “a somber combination of indie / punk elements and overtones that inspire and uplift your average punk-listener”.

Featuring a guest vocal performance from Jordan Brown of Set Your Goals on the track “Love”, as well as the crystal clear production of acclaimed producer Zack Ohren (Heartsounds, Set Your Goals), it is easy to distinguish the more pop-punk and lighthearted qualities of the band’s youthful energy (the average age of the band members being 20) which at first glance is buried beneath the downtrodden lyrical content and darkened sonic musical passages of the debut offering. The combination of the two contrasting musical themes within the bands debut EP “Ghost” has proved succesful for the Torrance, CA four-piece, given the overwhelming positive rsponse to the record thus far. The band will be hitting the road in July in support of the album, and plan to stay on the road for the remainder of the year.
Daytrader
Daytrader
Having formed from current and ex members of Crime In Stereo, Latterman, Bridge And Tunnel and the Motor Cycle Industry Daytrader have burst onto the punk scene with a refreshing take on an ever saturated pop punk, emo scene. Their demo, recently re-released on 7" vinyl, features the first three tracks written by the band, it blends the simplicity of Saves The Day and heartfelt passion of Further Seems Forever, to name a few. While taking influence from bands like this, Daytrader do not fall into the trap of becoming just another pop punk band, they keep it completely refreshing. Run For Cover Records.
