The Menzingers
The Menzingers
Scranton, PA is probably best known as the home of the fictional Dunder-Mifflin on NBC's hit show "The Office". Soon it will be also be known as the home of one of the most exciting new bands in the world, The Menzingers. After releasing an especially lauded EP and touring much of 2009, The Menzingers have been dubbed a “Band You Need To Know” in 2010 by Alternative Press and now they have a brand new full length proving why. Chamberlain Waits may very well be the most important record released so far by Red Scare and on it The Menzingers combine many of the genre’s styles (punk, hardcore, folk) to make for an undeniably infectious hybrid of hits. Produced by Matt Allison at Atlas Studios (Alkaline Trio, Less Than Jake, Lawrence Arms), this new album is destined for great, great things. Red Scare Records.
Restorations
Restorations
At a time when the music world is saturated with more bands than ever, Restorations are a refreshing change of pace: An act who undeniably embody the DIY spirit but also bring along a real breadth of musical knowledge and an unlikely set of influences that somehow manage to work perfectly together. Equal parts punk rock and polemics, Restorations is a unique group of musicians that's difficult to categorize and even harder to get out of your head.
Sore Saints
Sore Saints
Angular, noisy, atonal. Sore Saints is comprised of four like-minded gentlemen from Philadelphia and Canada who, while born of different musical backgrounds, were still able to meet somewhere between Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard, and Hot Snakes. Think of it like this: say David Yow showed up to a party hosted by the Night Marchers. A few hours later a couple of bands that came out on Level Plane Records circa 2001 – 2003 crashed said party with a bunch of beer with the suggestion that all attendees shotgun one or two and swap instruments in a jam session that lasted about seventeen minutes, give or take.
