Battles + Fucked Up = Lots Of Sweaty Dudes (or does it !?)

Battles - One of the world's finest quai-instrumental-post-rock-metal-freak out bands playing with North America's finest punk rock band FUCKED UP. Sounds like the best show ever! And it is.......

If you have a penis.

Everyone knows that most women do not enjoy music like this. This specific show is destined to be the biggest sausage fest ever (this will make the el-p show look like a miss america pageant). Team R5 had several closed door meetings with representatives from The Battles and The Fucked Up - to come up with a plan to overcome the testosterone overdose and bring the soft, clean and pretty touch that only a woman could..

We present you with.....

BATTLES AND FUCKED UP LADIES NIGHT !

Yes that's right! The first 50 ladies to purchase advance tickets (will call only) will get into the show HALF PRICE. Attention "clever" men reading this on the internet - these are will call only tickets. So do not show up on July 19th , looking all dude like - expecting us to let you in. This also applies to that totally weird guy who used to goto indie and hardcore shows in 2001 in a dress - then start masturbating as the band plays (remember when he did that like 3 days after 9/11 at the Unwound show). Sorry guy - you'll have to pay the normal $12 to fulfill your weirdo fantasies.

Thursday July 19th 2007 8:00pm
At The First Unitarian Church
22nd and Chestnut Streets

Legends Of Philly Hardcore Show Moved To The First Unit Church

From the late '80s through 1997, Joseph A. Gervasi, his brother Bull and some friends headed up something called The Cabbage Collective — a loose group of young hardcore/all-ages promoters who'd put on shows wherever they could.

As often as not, this meant places like The Harwan Theatre in South Jersey and Stalag 13 in West Philly. (Interesting historical note: The Cabbage Collective also "discovered" the First Unitarian Church as a music venue.) If it was not for these guys, there definitely would be nothing like R5 Productions in Philly...

During these days, there was a real dearth of venues for punk bands — hell, for any independent bands — to play. And while cruising down memory lane (read: MySpace, where hardcore bands often have grave-sites) recently, Gervasi decided that he'd get as much of the old gang together as he could.

"These bands meant so much to the people who grew up in this area. Philly hardcore has been a part of my life for the last 20 years and has influenced many friends I'm still close with," says Gervasi. "While I tend to stay away from reunion shows because they tend to be tacky and I'm not prone to bouts of nostalgia, I know that if someone else put on a Legends of Philly Hardcore Show I'd be the first guy in line."

So who are the bands? Get out your oxblood Doc's out, people, 'cos the pit is gonna be smokin'!

PAGAN BABIES
DECONTROL
Y-DI
F.O.D.
MCRAD

The show will be taking place on Sat July 14th 7:00pm
At The First Unitarian Church (22nd and Chestnut)
(moved from the latvian hall on spring garden street)

Punk Rock Flea Market 2007 Announced - Summer Edition

Finally! After like 2000 e-mails sent in to us. We have finally announced the date of the Summer Edition of The Punk Rock Flea Market. After over 2500 visitors (!) and 100 tables of vendors at the last one, we expect just as many people this time around

All of the proceeds raised will goto the purchase of necessary equipment and supplies to ensure that all ages shows continue to remain a reality at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia - mainly the new payment for our new liability insurance policy. This way we do not have to raise ticket proces for our VERY expensive premium.

Do not let the name lead you to believe that it's just punk records, clothes etc. - it's a full on flea market with everything from furniture, to laptops / computers , to stereo equipment, to handmade apparel, to vegan treats, information from various non profit groups, book stores, artists selling their work, bicycles & skateboards and whatever else we can fit onto the ballroom floor at The Starlight Ballroom.

In addition to the normal flea market stuff there will also be a full bar and food service kitchen to make the day go by a little faster.

Sellers can reserve tables now - but please note for the first two weeks - tables can only be reserved for people selling their old possessions.

Pay Attention To The Following Rules :

1) For the first fourteen days (june 4th to june 18th) we are ONLY allowing registration for peoples old "items" / personal possessions etc. If you create, sew, stitch, screen, record, press, print any sort of new item for sale - you must wait till AFTER june 18th. This is to ensure the Flea Market remains "A Flea Market" vs A "Craft Fair". Tricksters we are keeping track of this - and if we find that you are selling scarves and registered before the 14th - we will kick 'ya out! The same applies for record stores, record labels and distros. THE FIRST REGISTRATION PERIOD IF FOR INDIVIDUALS SELLING THEIR OLD STUFF ONLY

2) This year we are cutting back on the # of tables to allow more room for people to browse. Therefore table prices are going to increase to $53 for a full table (still not to shabby - again 2500+ people came through the door last year). Half tables will be $35.

3) We are ONLY allowing reservations to be made online (we are no longer doing in person "tickets") - it was just way to confusing to keep track and created the biggest most confusing mess ever. Sorry!

If you have any questions - just e-mail us !
