NOAH & THE WHALE CANCEL TOUR (including 12/3 @ Johnny Brendas)

"Some of the most dedicated, blog-aware North American friends of Noah and the Whale have correctly identified North American tour dates circulating on the internet.

It is with no little remorse and disappointment that we are compelled to cancel these dates. These words are being typed in the studio as we make progress on the next Noah and the Whale album. Between commitments in hereto-neglected Europe, we have made the sad but important decision to take time to develop these recordings over the winter months.

Despite this unavoidable necessity we would like to apologise to all the wonderful friends we made on our most recent American adventure, to anyone who has bought tickets or was preparing to do so.

The whole band enjoys an ongoing love affair with the US. The autumn tour was one of the most intense and heartening experiences of our lives and we were bristling with seasonal anticipation at the prospect of old faces and venues, not to mention new American audiences and experiences too. But there is simply not enough time in the world and we are sure that this next record will justify this difficult call.

With new songs to disseminate and even more America-famished, we will cross the pond to tour across the continent from March 2009. This is a promise, a published, globally-viewable promise.

Once again we want to express our most sincere gratitude for everyone who has seen us play, said they would see us play, or said two good words about the band. Noah and the Whale will be back and we will be back many times".

All internet tickets will be fully refunded. All in-person box office sales can be brought back to Deep Sleep for a full refund. Sorry !

R5 Text Alerts - Sign Up & Get Into Shows For Free !

It's almost 2009 and we are trying to embrace the future and technology as best as possible. Now that everyone is married to their cell phone, we have added a new feature which we think will be handy for those who enjoy our shows.

We have been testing a new "text alert" system to let you know about show / ticket specials. For instance free shows, 2 for 1 tickets, special last minute DJ nights or parties, drink specials, cheap ticket presales, last minute venue changes etc.

We are taking the next step in rolling this out and will be trying it out with actual real live people (aka you). To give you incentive to sign up we are going to begin giving away free tickets for most of our shows in November.

What will happen is you once you sign up (and confirm that you actually did sign up) every few days you will receive a simple text with instructions on how to get the free tickets.

Something along the lines of "Be one of the first 3 people to show this text at the door and get in w/ a friend to tonight's show "

We are going to start w/ the H20 show on Saturday and Henry Rollins show on Sunday.

We promise to NOT flood you with tons of messages and you can remove yourself at ANY time.

We want to see if this is a more effective way to let people know about our upcoming shows, and we'll reward your participation w/ free tickets.

To sign up simply text "R5" to 46786 (that's the "phone number" to send it to).
Or you can sign up online by visiting this easy link :
http://r5productions.com/text.html

It costs NOTHING to join. It is a FREE service. However if you cell provider charges you per received text message you will obviously have to pay the cost of receiving a text message.

Any questions just ask us !

Add / Join / Follow Us On Facebook & Twitter - Free Tickets & Shows !

We are probably about three years late on this - but R5 Productions is finally officially on Facebook. It's an easy and quick way to find out about our shows and more importantly - get last minute information like secret shows, band cancellations, venue changes etc. As an incentive to join our group / add us we will be giving away pairs of tickets to all of our shows in October - including the sold out ones! Just follow the link below and "add" / "join the group". There isn't much to look at but we will be updating it over the next few days ..

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677289574#/group.php?gid=29302158421

In other social networking / web 2.0 news we have also started our own Twitter. It tooks us about 6 weeks to understand why anyone would ever want to do this but we finally figure out how to make it useful. Anyways, - please "follow" us on Twitter! We are going to post newly confirmed shows there (as soon as they get confirmed - be the first to know!), show updates (such as when shows get canceled or when get bands get added to shows) and other stuff like "Show This Twitter Message On Your Phone And Get In For Free". We'll also add juicy gossip and commentary such as what bands are being total pricks to us or what bands are acting like sweet apple pie. Also stuff like show reviews : "wow this band totally sux live" etc.

For those not in the know - Twitter is a way to stay continually informed with your friends and other interests such as bands, porn stars, local shops and businesses etc. Your friends post "micro blogs" which are under 160 characters which you can receive on your e-mail, phone or ye ol' world wide web. Unfortunately this could also lead to your friends frequently publishing every minute thought they have ever had as to why their pizza is late or an exciting play by play about them sitting at a corner bar. We promise to never ever bore you with useless nonsense.

In fact, we think it could be pretty useful (such as stuff like "more tickets released for tonight's show!"), interesting (as to how weird the bands are in real life) and funny if you are into our shows. Give it a shot - we promise only good stuff, no bullshit! So 'add' or 'follow' us at the link below:

Defiance : Ohio - Two Shows Or One ?

Okay there has been some confusion with this upcoming Defiance:Ohio show on Friday August 22nd at The Barbary so here is the deal. Defiance : Ohio is really popular and The Barbary is really small. We decided to host two shows. We will only sell advance tickets to the first show (the one that starts at 5 and ends at 7).

If this first show sells out (which it looks like it will) then we will sell tickets to the second show at The Barbary on the day of the show - We will give you a wrist band to come back later for the second show (which starts at 7:30)

For those that want to see them play TWICE. If all the people who got shut out of the early show, get to go to the later show, and there is still room - THEN we will sell tickets to the people from the early show who want to come in again.

So if you want to guarantee your admission to the show - i would recommend getting tickets in advance at www.r5producitons.com or at Deep Sleep at 3rd and Arch-ish

Purchase Advance Tickets For This Show Right Now (click the tickets) :

Or CASH ONLY At Our New Box Office at Deep Sleep (54 N 3rd St / 3rd & Arch Streets)

New Box Office - Starts Monday July 7th !

As you probably have heard The RELAPSE RETAIL STORE has closed (as in no longer in business). So obviously our box office location is no longer there. Next Monday (july 7th) we are opening our first new location which will be at our good friend Phil's store DEEP SLEEP located at 54 N 3rd Street (just below 3rd and Arch on the left hand side)

Once we get things settled at that location we will be selling tickets at some other record store locations, as well at our own shows. Yes! Finally after all these years, you can now purchase tickets while you are at another show at the church, starlight etc.

I know we said the box office would open today (july 3rd) , but with the holiday weekend, we decided to wait till everyone isn't a crazy spazz pants. Sorry for the wait!
